Mark Balmert, Executive Director of the San Diego Military Advisory Council, talks about the 2020 SDMAC San Diego Military Economic Impact Study, conducted in conjunction with the UC San Diego Rady School of Management. The study highlights the $33 billion of direct spending tied to the region’s defense industry and $52 billion of indirect spending. Balmert notes that 342,000 jobs in San Diego county are also tied to the defense industry. Balmert shouts out next month’s Fleet Week San Diego events.
